Proper range and e-mobility do not have to be mutually exclusive. With the MAN Lion’s City E, we saw this for ourselves in 15 German cities.
In 15 cities, drivers, technicians, fleet managers and CEOs put the future of e-mobility in local public transport to the acid test. Or more precisely: to the performance and comfort test. The quiet that comes with an electric bus is inspiring as well: “For me as a driver, I found the ride very enjoyable. It is a very quiet, comfortable vehicle and very smooth on the road. We noticed that the road was quite uneven in parts. Nevertheless, the vehicle compensated well,” Manfred Reinke from Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe describes his first tour with the electric bus. The MAN Lion’s City E, being “jolt-free”, is attracting positive attention in Frankfurt as well: “That alone offers a very high level of comfort,” says Daniel Busse, who is responsible for alternative drives at DB Regio.
A responsibility that affects us all: The City of Bonn is also committed to zero emissions by 2035. “And that simply includes offering climate-neutral mobility,” says Anja Wenmakers, Managing Director of SWB Bus und Bahn. With zero per cent emissions for up to 90 passengers, the Lion’s City E can help achieve the target. With a range of up to 350 kilometres1) under favourable conditions, e-mobility in bus transport is no longer a pie in the sky – it is already on the road. Challenge accepted – Challenge accomplished.
